Noell Zwahlen MS

Human Movement Scientist

Practitioner, Educator/Speaker, ACE and IDEA Magazine Contributor

I started M4SL over 15 years ago. It was born out of a journey I had after a career ending traumatic injury when I was competitively racing downhill mountain bikes in the early 2000s. After the initial recovery of the immediate trauma of a fractured pelvis, I struggled with pain that occurred because of the massive shift that injury caused in my whole body. I was told that I would eventually have to get surgery but it “wasn’t bad enough yet”. Other than some initial physical therapy I was left to constant pain and even worse the inability to workout or participate in my loved sports. The “system” told me that I was broken and this was supposed to be my new normal.

Through my journey and studies I was introduced to corrective exercise based programs. It opened my eyes to the fact that I had the ability to correct and affect my body, when I understood what pieces were not functioning optimally and why. If I could help myself I wanted to help others.

My studies were concentrated in all aspects of integrated human movement including biomechanics, kinematics, arthrokinematics, fascial systems, physiology, kiniesiology, and some of the smaller studies that impact human movement and movement based behavior. Simply put the body is a machine that has not just the mechanical aspects but the computer (our mind)as well. I built the program that I teach and use now that integrates all of these aspects. I no longer live in pain. I bike, hike, life, skateboard, etc… I play in my machine, and I feel strongly with smart work you can be out of pain and playing in yours.
